In view of the US Department of Justice relaxing its stand in regards to online gambling, this has opened doors to many companies, to start looking into such an opportunity to make it big in the US.
Ladbrokes, the top UK betting operator made such a move into investing in Stadium Technology Group, a Las Vegas software company, specializing in sports betting. Ladbrokes has bought in $3m; 65 per cent stake in the software company Ladbrokes’ chief executive, Richard Glynn said that with the positive move of the US towards gambling, it made it sensible to invest in such a potential sector. And Stadium Technology has the experience in the industry and therefore is the perfect partner for such venture.
Even if the US Department of Justice has cleared its act on online gambling, which could lead the way for more pro gambling legislations to be adopted, they nevertheless voiced out that they would still consider sports betting as illegal.
Sports betting is illegal in all but four US states; Nevada, Oregon, Montana and Delaware.
