2012 is THE Year for Online Gambling

Now that the Wire Act of 1961 is much clearer in terms of online gambling, many states in the US are now reviewing their own online gambling laws.0

The federal authorities have done a magnificent job into tracking and cracking down on internet gambling of all kinds but only for those in business within the jurisdiction of the Wire Act.  This resulted into most online casinos and gaming sites moving their operations to offshore companies, which includes quite a lot of them in the UK.

The Managing Director of LiveCasinos.co.uk Michael Charalambous said that 2012 will be the year of online gambling in the US, which was previously the niche for strictly traditional land based casinos.

Simple forms of gambling such as state lotteries were in danger of being arraigned under the previous law. But now, Indian casinos and other land based casinos operators will be able to develop their business on the internet. On the other hand, UK casinos have never had to worry about all this

Each state will obviously have their own legislation in regards to online gambling. Therefore, citizens will have to abide to laws in place within their own jurisdiction. As example, if New York passes legislation allowing online gambling, any site offering the service must be based within New York.

As Michael Charalambous puts it, traditional casinos will need to move to the online world as soon as possible in order to be still in the online gambling race. This is especially true when it comes to Native American casino operators who have run their operations exempt from gambling laws. If they are ready to move into the online sector, then their business will not be in danger. A drop in business in land based casinos does not necessarily mean a decrease in their online operations.

It goes without saying that there will be an upsurge of online casinos this year. Competition will drive those businesses to offer a better service and innovative products and all this will definitely benefit players.
